What Is Nerdify?
Nerdify is the personal assistant of the Uber era. A service designed for college students, Nerdify acts as an on-demand task manager for people with too much work and too little time.
If you’ve got a deadline coming and need a hand, Nerdify is the answer.
How Does Nerdify Work?
The service uses a team of brainy“Nerds” to answer questions and complete tasks.
A student can make contact with Nerdify for the first time by messaging them on their Facebook page, texting them directly at 77467, or providing their own phone number on gonerdify.com.
Within minutes, one of the Nerds is collecting the details and getting down to the business of completing the student’s task.
What Separates Nerdify from Other Services?
While providing fast and cheap customer service is an established business model, Nerdify is setting itself apart by targeting a very specific niche: college students.
Unlike Uber, TaskRabbit, and KGB, Nerdify doesn’t offer its services to just anyone. By focusing on the needs of college students, its Nerds are able to tackle issues that are actually relevant to its customers. It’s not just homework tasks they can assist with, either. Sure, if you’re struggling with calculus or English composition, they can help. But they can also help you order your new textbook, remind you about major events on your schedule, or simply by discussing with you the essay topic ideas that you came up with and suggesting their own.
Another thing that makes Nerdify special is that there isn’t any sign-up required. We love that.
How Much Does Nerdify Cost?
The cost was never terrible, but the service could definitely use a pricing matrix featured on the website.
Because the Nerds can perform such a wide array of tasks, there is no one-size-fits-all pricing. If you need a new graphing calculator, you can expect to pay the cost of the calculator, plus a few bucks.
If the help you need is more complex, and can’t be measured by words/pages in a fair-minded manner then you’ll probably pay your Nerd an hourly rate. Another thing worth noting is the timeframe given for completion as urgency clearly has its impact on the estimate. All things considered, don’t be surprised if proofreading papers might only cost $10 per page, but correcting some Good Will Hunting-type proofs for math class could cost more like $35.
One thing we can say without a doubt is that we felt like we received high-quality work for our money. We paid $40 bucks to have several pages of our website edited and another $10 for a reservation at a busy restaurant (though we were informed that the Nerds more frequently book tutors and study hall slots).
Is The Customer Service Any Good?
It really is.
At every stage, the Nerdify team was really polite. I guess they get unusual requests all the time, but made us feel totally comfortable asking for their help.
We didn’t have any real problems, but messaged back to ask about a refund anyway, just to see how it worked. The Nerd who responded seemed really calm about the whole thing and told us that a short review period would be necessary to verify our request and speak with the grammar Nerd who originally edited our pages. Our conversation created a feel like refund requests were a seldom practice for them and our product experience actually mattered for them.
In the end, we didn’t formally request a refund (after all, the work was perfect), but don’t think we would have any problem doing so if we were dissatisfied in the future.
The Final Word
Nerdify is a cool service that can really help you out when you’re stuck in a jam and don’t have the time to work it out on your own. We recommend it.
Pros:
Fast and reliable.
The Nerds responded to our requests quickly and delivered on time.
Incredibly easy to use.
Keeping college students in mind, Nerdify relies on Facebook and text messaging to communicate with their clients.
Conversational customer care
Nerdify gives the impression that you really do matter to them, which is something we’d like to see more of in other business.
Cons:
Pricing scheme
Though you’re not going to get ripped off, their pricing structure makes it hard to predict costs until you speak with a Nerd. Yet everything is thoroughly explained once you get down to it.
English only
They don’t deal with any other languages so your translation assignments are off the map. ON the other hand, their Nerds can give you a hand at finding where to get it done.
